7 years is a long time. It’s enough time to have 7 babies, watch a World Cup, European Cup and the Olympics at least once and just enough time to experience the seven year itch. Ah yes, the seven year itch, the proverbial tendency to move on to newer things in relationships. While the years roll by, Kruzer hung on, adapted and changed even, just to soothe the itch of its riders. It is a testimony to all riders that we lasted this long.

This year, Kruzer moves offshore for the first time ever to celebrate its 7th anniversary in a foreign land. But yet, some things remain constant. Like the bikes and the roar of motorbikes navigating its way through the meandering twists, turns and dips and climbs of Fraser’s Hill. Or the ever curious monkeys who would raid your apartments if you are foolish enough to leave a window open. It is apt that we should celebrate our 7 years in a home, away from home. One we never fail to visit year after year.

With new tires, loaded boxes and a promise of good company, this weekend is more than a union of old friends and forging new acquaintances. It is where an unforgettable experience beckons..

Happy 7th anniversary to all Kruzers!

Kruzer is proud to be celebrating SingaporeBikes.com’s 9th Anniversary on 15 and 16 of January 2011. Unknown to many, SBF was the incubator and birthplace for Kruzers as the President and trip organiser, Isaac Chan, used to organize rides for all and sundry in the forum.

It would be a great honour to celebrate the forum for 9 years of bringing people sharing the same love of motorcycles and riding together. The emphasis of this year’s SBF anniversary is focused on new and potential riders; a group of riders we can relate to, especially with their fears in touring a new country.

One of the Club’s objectives is to provide riding opportunities without prejudice. Through our booth, we hope to encourage exploration of neighbouring countries on 2 wheels. Not only that, our members will be there to share riding knowledge for all riders, especially new ones eager to experience riding in Malaysia but feel intimidated to do so.

Come visit our booth at *SCAPE on 15 and 16 Jan 2011, make friends and learn more about Kruzer’s rides overseas. Who knows, we may be out riding together in Malaysia or Thailand in the coming year…

Kruzer presents the official screening of “One Crazy Ride” in Singapore inconjuction with it’s 5th anniversary celebrations.

OCR, produced by Dirt Track Productions is about a motorcycle expedition on uncharted roads across the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh, situated in North-east India. But more than an expedition, it’s a film on friendship, camaraderie and the “never say die” attitude of five motorcyclists in the face of unforgiving terrain.

Rides like this that builds friendship and often resulting a family like relation, very much mirrors our experiences. Thus by screening this we hope to further share our interest and objectives in such films with the riding scene in Singapore.

A cast from the film may be attending the screening for Q&A after the show. There will also a cocktail reception after the screening.

Screening of OCR will be held at Sinema Old School. With a capacity of 136 pax, we will expect tickets to run out fast as its a first come first serve basis. Bookings can be made with payment. Please contact Jocelyne at 92762686 for tickets.

Time : 5.30pm
Venue : Sinema, 11B Mount Sophia, Old School #B1-12 Singapore 228466

Lost on what to bring along on a motorcycle camping ride? Here's something that might help!

It’s less than a week to the camp up at Mount Ophir and we’re finally experiencing the “fire in the pants ” feeling.

Source of pic: ADVrider.com

“What’s for dinner? What are you bringing for the camp?”. Ahh, the familiar questions pop up and yours truly was no different. All I had in mind was the type of cooking and food we needed to bring. Absolutely no toots about tents, sleeping bags, bungee cords, lights. Only food and what to cook it with. If food’s all you’re thinking about, you meet an important criteria for Kruzer membership.

Sensing that people might be sleeping out in the open with stars for cover, it would be apt to do some thinking or “research” into motorcycling and camping: 2 things that come naturally together.

If you’ve done your homework, you’ll notice that all motorcycling and camping articles naturally lead to one article: Bill John’s Excellent Motorcycling Camping Guide.

Briefing you on what sort of tents to bring, how to prevent water from coming into your tent, he’s got it mostly covered (specialty sites on camping might give you better tips). But the most important thing is he’s got a checklist where the lazy motorcyclist, i.e. you, will come to appreciate. I think I will come to appreciate this a lot…

Bill John’s Excellent Motorcycling Camping Guide

Let us know if you find something useful. I mean, I’m sure I wouldn’t want to fish your buddy out of his waterlogged tent! (though this story will probably stick to him for the rest of his life..hehe)

Thanks to all who turned out for the launch of the new Kruzer Website. We certainly hope you like the new clean look of the website!

Thanks to all who turned out for the launch of the new Kruzer Website. We certainly hope you like the new clean look of the website!

Special thanks to Joanna, whose recommendation of the platform, sacrificing time for meetings and patient coaching of the 3 stooges (Isaac, Tony and me) on the platform helped in the realization of this website.

Pleasantly surprised at the larger than expected turnout, the Club President, Isaac Chan, gave a quick roundup of the initiatives taking place this year. This includes a regular feature since the start of the year, R.E.S .

Ride.Eat.Slack (RES) rides was first coined as it became apparent that more and more members are getting wound up in their worklife, leaving precious little time to reflect and enjoy themselves. These rides are typically one day rides (although we just had a 2 day one – see Kruzer @ Silk Bay) to nearby places in Malaysia to do just that. Relax.

Kruzer PicK was also something we had always wanted to do as photography became a huge hit with our members as a complimentary hobby. The proliferation of photosharing and social websites gave people a reason to shoot and share what they did during the weekend. As the quality of the photos got better, a healthy competition with themes would enable members to see Kruzer trips in a different light.

Finally, not totally unrelated to photographs, the idea of a yearly photo review book of Kruzer rides have also been bandied around in recent times. Having a solid book to hold with ride photos and commentary would certainly bring back memories of the year that has past…and the decision was pretty unanimous.

We have raised the bar with the new webbie launch and ideas we want for the club. But we couldn’t do it without YOU.

More good times ahead!

Bat’s 50th Birthday in Gua Tempurung

==============================================================

The roads our wheels spunned
The rides we joyed
The journeys we took
The destinations we shared

The straights that bore
The twists that excites
The heat that pains
The coolness that soothes

We are alike – we live to ride.

Bat, the little time we shared on and off the rides,
becomes more precious and memorable as you had left us so soon.

Your company will always be cherished by Kruzers as well as me.

Rest in Peace .. my gentle friend.

President, Kruzer

===============================================================

As the whole Kruzer community shares their condolences to his family, it is sad news that a fellow member Bahati Bin HJ Md Noor, “Bat” has departed us on 31 January 2008.

Bat joined our company while Kruzers were still camping at Pitstop at Beach Road. He had a huge first impression on me, riding through the Kandahar Street towards Pitstop, his gigantic VTX rumbling to announce his arrival. From the first introductory handshake to sitting down and sharing bike stories and activities, the bond was built as many festive seasons were celebrated together.

With the presence of Bat in the club, he showed us how maturity and age benefited the club. With many years of motorcycle riding in him, he actively participated with the club, posted his knowledge in Kruzer’s forum and made long journeys with fellow members – the young, the old and the new. Bat readily offered his assistance whenever he was called upon, his experiences from motorcycles, touring to parenthood.

Bat to me is and always will be a humble and gentle Kruzer. He has proven that age is never a barrier to touring; in fact it is the one thing that he keeps telling me that he enjoys doing, venturing up North, soaking up the scenic views and experiences with every mile. With his beloved wife Noridah, they have braved many sunny and stormy rides to bring back the wonders of each road trip to share with the Kruzer community.

Bat has shown me that it is never too late to do anything that is worthwhile and meaningful. Let his undying perseverance and determination be a guiding light to all.

So as friends and families mourn the departure of Bat, Kruzers will miss its fellow member dearly, may Bat rest in peace and forever reside in Kruzer.
